Episode 19 - When Daxamites Attack! A look at Legionnaires Annual #2

In this episode, Jay and Jim talk about the classic Year One Legionnaires Annual #2 from 1995 that caps off the first year of stories of the Post-Zero Hour Legion of Super Heroes and the climax of the Daxamite War!

We talk about the lead up to the big battle where the Legion clashes with a rogue band of Daxamites led by the evil Roxxas!  Drama unfolds as the new Legion faces its ultimate threat so far and is faced with love and loss.  We discuss the plot threads resolved in this issue as well as the new plots seeded in this story for the second year and beyond!

In this episode, Jim and Jay welcome Jeffrey Moy, the second-longest Legion illustrator best known for his work in Legionnaires in the 1990s!  We talk about Jeff's origins, artistic influences, and journey into the comic book industry. The conversation explores the creative process behind character design, storytelling, and the challenges of working on a large ensemble cast and stories of the Post-Zero Hour Legion of the 90s, and combining Star Trek and the Legion!

Jeff reflects on his experiences in the comic book industry, discussing the creative challenges faced by artists and writers, insights into his artistic process, the fun of incorporating Easter eggs into his work.

Episode 17 - The Bronze Age of the Legion!

Jim and Jay discuss the Bronze Age of the Legion - beginning with the Legion as a backup in Superboy to the spotlight on Wildfire. We take a look at the amazing art, some of the craziest stories ever created, and iconic stories and character moments that have defined the team since the 1970s! We explain what was happening in the comic book industry at the time and how that influenced the look and stories, with in depth discussions on the return of Jim Shooter, the beginnings of Paul Levitz's Legion career, and the importance of Dave Cockrum and Mike Grell to the success of the team!
